Unfortunately, you can’t get a DWG file directly to the Autodesk FBX converter. With a DXF file, we can convert it to FBX using the Autodesk FBX converter. However, let's pretend you don’t have Blender 2.79. From there you can export the data to both FBX and OBJ. If you want to go to Blender 2.79, stop here and import the file using the DXF importer Add-on. Press the Start button to begin your conversion. For compatibility, pick an old version of the DXF file like 2010. Since ODA File Converter only works in batch mode, you will need a folder even when you have a single DWG file.

You will have to get the software and create two folders on your computer: one for the DWG file and another for the DXF output. The first step is to get your DWG file converted to DXF using the ODA File Converter.

You don’t even have to go further and get a conversion from DWG to OBJ, but I will show you how to do that in case you need it in the future. You can easily import FBX or OBJ files in Blender 2.8. In the following guide, I will show you how to get any DWG file converted to either FBX or OBJ without AutoCAD - using only free tools. How to convert DWG files to OBJ or FBX without AutoCAD?

It still doesn't have a working and reliable DXF importer. The release of Blender 2.8 brought another layer to the problem. We often get questions from architects and artists trying to import DWG files to Blender with very few success. Unlike many formats that we have to import to Blender, it is not easy to get DWG data to Blender with no previous conversion. I hopefully can slice the animation into seperate parts inside of Unity … just ridiculous. How to convert DWG files to OBJ or FBX without AutoCAD?įrom all the file types that you will have to manage during a project, the most common is the DWG from AutoCAD, which is also the format for lots of other tools like BricsCAD.

The last possible solution i see (and will try in a few minutes) is to copy each key ShapeKey Animation by hand onto one ShapeKey animation which holds every animations. > Works but puts the same animation into every Action regarding which animation is currently the active one in the Shape Key Editor. Push each action down on the nla stack as a new strip -> unity does not find them too.Ĭreate a Action (in the action editor) for each Shape Key animation with one keyframe set at the beginning and one at the end of the animation. Import in Unity as *.blend instead of *.fbx -> Show 1 Default animation - 250 frames long (like defined in blender-timeline) but no animation visible at all. If i export the head to fbx and import it to unity (2018.1), unity simply does not find the animations (even with all export options regarding animation turned on). Those shape keys are animated and stored inside the Dope Sheet/Shape Key Editor. Actually i have a blender(2.79) project with one object in it. Iam a little baffled because i don’t find a proper solution for my problem.
